  1. Yay! Can’t wait…

  2. Hello All,

My name is Brandie Flood and my daughter (9yrs old) and her cousin (8yrs old) have been attending the Ashia Circle’s quilting group. We are having a blast. We recently lost my mother and grandmother in the span of about 13 months. It has been difficult because we were all raised in a multi-generational household. In fact, we all lived together until my grandmother’s death this past April 2011. This gives us the opportunity to get together and do something our grandmother loved to but we were too naive to pay attention at the time. I have bought a sewing machine and the girls and I are practicing at home. We haven’t been able to part with my grandmother’s things especially her favorite church suits, and house coats. Now, together has a family “raised by women,” we plan to use the fabric from her clothes to make a family heirloom quilt. Now it won’t be perfectly cut and all those things. Because we are truly beginners. But, the most important thing we have learned from the Aisha Circle & the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters is that in needs to be made with respect for the craft and love from the hands creating it. We definitely have that part down. Thank You Aisha Group!

We’ll see you next weekend, Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 at the Rainier Beach Library if you have a finished quilt to pick up. Call for more information: 206-261-6882.

  4. Thank you to all the girls and parents that came out and quilted with us. We had a great time with all of you and the members of the Pacific Northwest African America Quilters. See you next time!
